Voodoo Human Sacrifice
Sacrifice and drinking of blood were two major components of the Voodoo ceremonies. Sometimes the blood of a child was used, and other times the blood of a black cat was used. There is very little proof of human sacrifice taking place in Louisiana, but the phrase “Goat Without Horns” used to be heard. This phrase means that a white child was used to be sacrificed. This term was originated in Haiti prior to New Orleans. For many years, every child that went missing was blamed on Voodoos who used them as a sacrifice. The Voodoo queens were always being accused of being child murders and abductors.
In 1881, there was a situation in which two Voodoo parents were caught holding their son over an open fire, and then preceding to beat him to death. Prior to this in 1863, a riot was almost sparked when a human torso was found in the home of Voodoo practitioner. The Voodoos are very secretive in their practices and rituals, and we may never know for sure if human sacrifices were ever used, but we do know that according to the facts, it could have very well been possible.
