Trunkless Tree

trunkless-tree

Located in Bertram, Iowa, Campbell Cemetery is known to contain an urban legend. A trunkless tree is believed to have a presence in the cemetery.

A trunkless tree appears to be floating in mid-air, and according to legend, it is only seen when you go into the cemetery at night with your car and then immediately  turn the lights off.

What do you guys think of this legend? Could it be possible to have a tree standing without a base, or is this just a sight that the human eye cannot perceive?

It exists. I’ve seen it several times. I visit it each year around Halloween. I first saw it as a child (growing up 15 miles away from it) and have carried on the tradition by taking my children there as well as friends of my children. As far as only being able to see it at night, that part is an urban legend, it is clearly visible during the day. However, to truly enjoy the phenomenon, you should visit the cemetary at night.
