Theory on Psychopaths
We have all heard the terrible stories of famous psychopaths throughout history. Charles Manson told his followers to murder a famous celebrity. Jeffrey Dahmer would invite people in his home for sex, then kill them and eat parts of their body. Ted Bundy raped and bludgeoned women to death. Most would agree that these men are true examples of how terrible and conflicted a person can be. Yet, what if these people truly are not as crazy as we see them to be. Psychologists have a theory that certain criminals who commit murders are not truly psychopaths. For example, Jeffrey Dahmer killed many people. Yet, after being questioned by psychologists, it was found that Jeffrey did not fit the mental profile of a true psychopath.
Psychopaths normally lose touch with reality and do things because a voice tells them to or imaginary friends tell them to. Yet, in many cases, murderers commit crimes simply because they enjoy it. They have a clear mindset, do not see imaginary people, and do not hear voices.
This fits schizophrenia or any other psychotic disorder more than psychopathy (which more likely has a relation to antisocial personality disorder).
Contrary to what this theory says, psychoanalytic research has shown that psychopaths rarely have a distorted perception of reality, as in having hallucinations or delusions. These psychotic features belong to f.e. schizophrenia and schizophrenics generally are not murderous or violent.
Psychopaths do have a clear mindset. A psychopath doesn’t necessarily have to kill or hurt people. Surely there are murderers who are both schizophrenic and antisocial (a dangerous combination, which has been exemplified in some serial killers), but more than often hallucinating, delusional schizophrenics do not murder. More than often murdering psychopaths are not guided by imaginary friends or hear voices.
Make no mistake here; psychopaths can think rationally and have a clear mindset. Schizophrenics often have irrational thoughts, delusions and hallucinations.
If schizophrenic behavior would elude to paranormal behavior such as demon oppression then psychopathic behavior would define it. What does this sound like. A human that disregards human life, lack of remorse or empathy, manipulating, and under evaluation psychopathic people will admit to an inner weaker person in which they are compelled to control. One psychologist defined psychopaths as having an empty soul. Which brings to question how much does spirituality come into play in psychotic behavior?
Imagine a staircase.down, and up…at the very bottom or at the very top they overlap.Genius is as close to insane. Now put a staircase going left to right(+).At each end they to overlap. It’s a depth of mind to far as well as shallow. Some north east, some south east etc…Depends on experiences, eitha way can flip.Like a shadow on the wall of a gloomy person, you are splitting fine hairs.
Common denominators between a schizophrenic and a psychopath is they can both have extreme dellusions.
Schizo will be unrealistic, where as a psychopaths will be based on possibles of reality.
e.g. They keep trying to take my cornflakes and put mutant radiation poison into it,an seal it so it looks unopend….but i no the difference. They hide in my attic at night an have secret meetings.Government send them of course, they want to take the chip out of my head when i sleep to learn stuff about the aliens i met.I’m onto them. One of them talks loud,an i think he said they’d kill me when they’re done.Betta get them 1st.
That’s schizophrenics..and quite capable of harsh things in ludicrous fear, and dellusions.
e.g. She cheated on me agen.Mustve been that brown wagon up the road, always looked sus 2me.As all women cheat, sluts, whores, they’re all the same. They want to be abused or they wouldn’t act that way.An everyone else thinks like me,they’re all simpletons though.Think they can outwit me,all playing games everylast one.I hate them, they hate me.All good i’ll act out they’re little game.I know i’ll be the one holding the last card an having the last laugh,in front of them,an they won’t even know it..They will think they got the good end of the stick, till they get hm,an by then i’ll be halfway to china.Fools…
When everyone’s oblivioius they’re even mad…
Real dellusions of real possibilities though, that’s psychopathic style..
Both able to be very volitile, impulsivly un-predictable… Both hard to convince what they believe isn’t true, because to them it is!!
You’re confusing Psychopathic with Psychotic. They are two COMPLETELY different and unrelated things, despite both beginning with the prefix “psycho-” (which is what causes the confusion).
PSYCHOTICS see or hear things that aren’t there (hallucinations). It’s called a psychotic break from reality”. (Which can be the result of a schizo-typal disorder.)
PSYCHOPATHS lack the ability to empathize and thus lack a conscience/the ability to feel guilt or remorse for their actions. (Which is called anti-social personality disorder.)
People like Bundy and Dahmer ARE Psychopaths, but they are NOT Psychotic.
They aren’t “insane”; they are completely aware of what they’re doing and why they’re doing it, unlike a psychotic, however they are not like normal people in that they have no ability to empathize with other people so have no qualms about harming anyone else (the same way destroying an inanimate object would not elicit any feelings of guilt in a normal person). That does not make them less dangerous or somehow more ‘mysterious’. It’s a severe personality disorder, but not a “mental illness”.
So to sum up, the author of this post has absolutely no unique insight to provide: They’ve just made the most common mistake every lay-person makes and confused “psychotic” with “psychopathic”.
The moral of this story: Don’t make posts about things you don’t have the slightest clue about to try to sound profound.
