The Winchester Mansion, also known as the Winchester Mystery House, is one of the most famous hanuted houses in America. Located in San Jose, California, it is the former private home of Sarah Winchester. Sarah was the wife of William Wirt Winchester, whom was the second president of the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. After the death of her husband and daughter, Sarah went to a medium to see what to do with her life.

The medium allegedly told her that the rifles that the company had made have been responsible for the deaths of thousands of people over the years. These spirits now want to take revenge on her for their deaths. She was instructed to move out west and to continue to perform construction on a house for the spirits who were killed and to never stop. If she was to stop, she would die. From 1884 to her death in 1922, construction never stopped and continued around the clock.

By the time of her death, Sarah had spent millions of dollars on constant construction. This has led to one of the most interesting and intriguing mansions ever built. There are many mysteries surrounding the editions, including doors leading to 10 foot drops outside, and stairways leading to no where. The house contains 160 rooms, including 40 bedrooms, 10,000 window panes, and 47 fireplaces.

Today, the house is maintained by Winchester Investments LLC, and frequent tours are given. Also, on every Friday the 13th, the bell is rang 13 times in memory of Sarah. There are also flashlight tours given of the establishment every Friday the 13th and the weeks leading up to Halloween. People who have visited the house have reported uneasy feelings of being watched, supporting Sarah’s theory of ghosts roaming the halls.

Yea Tishon, I’m sure you would be scared if you were in that house. It’s easy for you to say right now, probably sitting in your small house but when you see a spirit or a ghost I’m sure you will be shitting your pants.Think before you say stuff.
