The Will to Survive
Any survival expert will tell you that the most important part of any survival situation is maintaining your will to survive. You can do anything that you set your mind to. If you were stranded from all civilization, all by yourself, and it’s just you and mother nature, will you survive? Will you win the fight? I am going to put you in a scenario and I want you to tell me, through comments, how you would handle the situation and whether or not you think you would survive the situation and make it back to civilization.
You are stranded on a desert island because your boat sank, and you’re lucky to even be alive. You wake up being washed upon the shore. You get up and your mind is being rushed with thoughts, mostly negative, wondering how you are going to get back to civilization, to your family and all of your friends. At this point, you have two options: A) You can work yourself up and worry yourself to the point that you have a heart-attack B) Remain calm, and maintain your will to survive, and think positive thoughts. Negative thoughts are a killer and without having the right state-of-mind can be a matter of life or death to you. What would you do? You take option B and you can find whatever food you can. Days, weeks, months go by and your still stuck on the Island. Do you let your mind get the best of you then? Do you lose your will to survive? Have you given up on all your hopes of making it out alive?
That is the scary part, we will never truly know what we would do if we were ever put in the situation. All we can do now is prepare ourselves for the worst. Paranormalknowledge.com is full of articles on how to survive in the wilderness. As a matter of fact, we have a whole category on it, Survival Techniques. You might want to glance those over for some tips on how to survive if you were ever put in a horrifying situation where it’s a matter of life or death.
I am interested in hearing what you have to say on this matter. Imagine yourself being washed upon the shore, you get up, wipe all the sand you may have on you. What would you do now? What thoughts do you think will be running through your head right now? Leave a comment and share your thoughts.
