The Von Minden Hotel
The Von Minden Hotel is located in Schulenburg, Texas. It is over 77 years old and stands four stories tall, consequently making it tower over the other buildings surrounding it in the downtown area of Schulenburg. The Von Minden is unique because it is the last standing combination of a hotel and theatre of its kind. As most hotels that have been around for a long time, the Von Minden has seen many deaths in its existence. There is one room in the hotel that is commonly referred to as the “Jumper’s Room.” This room once belonged to a World War II paratrooper.
The man’s plane was shot down during battle and he lost his leg in the crash, leaving him in bad physical shape. While he was making his journey back home, he stopped at the hotel for one night. When he arrived, he was given a number of letters written by his girlfriend known as Miss Polka Dot. He read these letters out of order, and one of them said that she didn’t want to be with him anymore. In a letter that was dated later, she had changed her mind and wanted to stay with him. However, he did not see this because he jumped out of the window after reading the first letter.
The next afternoon, Miss Dot showed up at the hotel to see her lover to only be hit with the news that he had killed himself. Since then, Miss Dot is seen walking the halls looking for her lost lover. In another room, a railroad worker was found dead behind the door. Photos taken in the hotel reveal orbs and strange streaks of blue lights. Readings on the EMF meter’s fluctuate erratically as they are there, indicating a great amount of energy. Visitors to the hotel have released countless videos and photos that reveal paranormal-related events. This hotel has become so famous in the paranormal community that it has even held a ghost conference there.
