The Vogue Theatre
The Vogue Theatre was built in 1941 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Shortly after its opening, the Vogue become the hottest ticket in Vancouver. A wide array of genres of theatre would be played here, featuring the best talent from across the country at the time. Strange things have been happening at the Vogue since its original opening. Ghosts are believed to haunt the old theatre. The ghost stories began with the tale of a young woman who committed suicide at the theatre when her lover left her. She was alone and pregnant and didn’t know what else to do with her life.
The spirit of this poor woman has been in the lower dressing room, under the stage. Shadowy figures that move fast are often seen in the dressing room. There is also an image seen there of a dark man. He sits there alone, or with people, depending on the day. Alcohol and cigar smoke can often be smelt coming out of this room as well, filling the thick air. Empty chairs have been known to fill up with strange mists, and it is believed that if one is alone in the empty theatre, they will heart the faint sound of applause and laughter. The bathroom downstairs is also haunted by a prankster ghost for both the men’s room and women’s room. One man reported seeing a male apparition in the men’s room through the mirror combing his hair as he disappeared.
