The Presbytere

The Presbytere is located on Chartres Street in New Orleans, Louisiana, and was built in 1797 by Don Andres Almonester y Roxas. It was then deeded to the Spanish colonial government as a commercial center following the construction. In 1834, the Presbytere then became a courthouse. Renovations took place in the building in 1847, including the installation of the mansard roof and other changes to fit legal accommodations. In 1911, the building became part of the Louisiana State Museum. The janitor of the building seemingly enjoyed his job as he walked the halls at night when no one else was there.

A sense of freedom and responsibility comes with a job such as that. He had lived up to performing his duty as a janitor, and continues to do so even in death. The ghost of the janitor is seen walking the halls and floating around in his dark pants and shirt. People who witness this ghost describe him as tall and slim with brown hair and a cap. He continuously puts away housing equipment that is not done so by the current staff. He also is said to look out the window at females in their apartments, most likely due to all of those lonely nights held up there by himself.
