The One-Word Exam Question

In this urban legend, the professor’s (usually Philosophy) only question on an exam is “Why?” The clever student’s winning answer is either “Why not?” or “Because.” This legend has spread through college universities throughout the world for many years. There is no evidence, however, that any actual course grades were based on this one one-worded question.
