The Monteleone Hotel

April 15th, 2009

The Monteleone Hotel is located on Royal Street in New Orleans, Louisiana. This four-star hotel contains both modern and old fashioned styles in architecture. The contrast of these two styles provides a proper background to a hotel that is haunted. Over the years, the guests and staff of the Monteleone Hotel have reported an increasing amount of paranormal activity. People who stay in the hotel often hear the sound of children playing in the hallway. When the sound is investigated, no one is there.

There was even one report of a spirit placing expensive earrings in a man’s shoe. The true history of the Monteleone Hotel is not known since its location was replaced over several times, but the spirits that haunt the building are most definitely from the former structures as well. However, no one knows as to why the spirits are present there.

Another interesting note about the hotel is that there is no 13th floor listed, but the 14th floor is in actuality the 13th floor from the ground level. On this floor is where the most paranormal activity is detected.

Many of the members of the housekeeping staff have reported seeing many apparitions on several floors of the building, most often that of children.

I’ve stayed at that hotel about a month ago. It is really nice indeed – ideally located in the heart of the french quarter, beautiful lobby, nice artworks and decorations. I have only one complaint though – the walls were paper thin since I could easily hear people moving throughout the hallways. You can sometimes hear flushing toilets.. but I guess it is not that a big promlem anyway. Everything else was just great. Recommended!
