The Joshua Chamberlain House

In Brunswick, Maine, a house was built in the 1820s, and then renovated by a man named Joshua Chamberlain in 1871. The Chamberlain family would own this house until 1939, when it was sold to a landlord. The landlord then went to turn the beautiful house into apartments where it remained that way until 1983 when Pejepscot Historical bought the home. They started to make renovations and opened it up as a museum.
The spirit of Joshua Chamberlain has been seen on many occasions, including one time at the top of the steps, staring back at someone else. His wife, Fanny, has also been seen in similar circumstances. Pictures have been taken around the entire house and these photos revealed orbs and images that appeared to be faces in glass objects. One example was a pair of boots in a glass-case that appeared to be a face in the picture.
General Sherman was a good friend of Joshua and it appears that he is only seen by the fireplace as a ghostly figure. An interesting thing about Joshua is that he was shot in the hip while alive. Some people who visit the house feel severe pain in the hip-area. The hip has gotten so swollen on some people that they were unable to walk for a good amount of time. This only happens in the place where Joshua got shot, giving this a very interesting twist.
