The Ghosts of Cheesman Park

Cheesman Park in Denver, Colorado was originally once the Old City Cemetery in the middle of the town. It was the resting place for people who had no real relatives such as transients, paupers, and criminals. In 1893, the people of the growing city realized that this land was too valuable to be used as just a cemetery, especially one that hardly anyone visited anyway. The plan was to move all the bones and skeletons of the people buried here to another spot farther outside of town.

This plan turned out to be a disaster because in order to put these remains into mini coffins for moving, they had to break apart these bones into tiny little pieces. It was a nightmare, and there were body parts laying all over the area. One man reported an angry ghost jumping on his back, and people living in the area reported scared and disoriented ghosts roaming their houses.

Eventually, to settle things down the city dug up the entire remains of the cemetery and excavated it into a park. To this day, the area has remained a park, and although no one has reported ghosts since the turmoil, people get a very sad and confused feel as they walk into and around the park. Perhaps the spirits now have no final resting place, since theirs was taken in a horrible manor that has left them in a complete daze. They continue to constantly remind the people of the city who live and walk in the area of their ever lasting mood of confusion.
