He has been called the greatest science-fiction writer of all time. Aside from author Jules Verne, Herbert George Wells is widely considered to be the father of the science-fiction genre. Wells is most known for The Time Machine and War of the Worlds.

Not only are his stories fascinating, but they are a great source of debate and interpretation for readers and scholars alike. To this day, his novels are still required reading for many schools. This shows that his legacy has truly stood the test of time.

His writing was mainly a source of criticism of the British government. He was able to use aliens, and deformed humans as metaphors for England’s modern-day issues. It could be claimed that he has influenced every piece of writing in the science-fiction genre to this day.
