The Chicken or the Egg?
March 21st, 2009
This is the age-old question that has baffled people since the dawn of time. If you are a religious person, you might say that that it all came from God. The chicken was made from God and then it started having eggs by the laws of nature. However, if you are a proponent of the theory of evolution, you would say that the egg came first out of the laws of nature and God was not necessarily involved in the process. It seems that after all the years that science and religion have been battling it out to see whose theory is correct, we still can’t seem to figure out the meaning behind this question. So for now, we have to be humble and just admit that we don’t know.
Any ideas or theories on what came first?

I personally believe that God created the first eggs of the first chickens.
The Amniotic eggs of sauropsids have been around since reptiles split off in a defined way from their amphibian common ancestor. As reptiles, birds and monotreme mammals all lay the same kind of egg, and reptiles were laying those kinds of eggs for millions of years before birds came about, then the egg can for sure be said to come first. As birds came from an egg-laying common ancestor, then the first chicken to come about through selection can assuredly have come from an egg.
Not really a ‘debate’.
