The Blair Witch Project is a low-budget horror movie made in 1997 that centers around three college students making a documentary. The documentary is about the legend of the Blair Witch, who is said to haunt the woods of Burkittsville, Maryland. These kids disappeared after the footage was shot, and one year later the tapes were found. The legend of the Blair Witch started in February of 1785, when Elly Kedward is accused of bring several children in her house to draw blood from them. She was then found guilty of witchcraft, and banished from the village during a terrible winter and presumed dead. By the middle of winter, all of Kedward’s accusers and half the town’s children all mysteriously disappeared. In August of 1825, eleven witnesses testified to seeing a woman’s hand reach out and pull Eileen Treacle into Tappy East Creek.

After the drowning, the creek became clogged with oil bound sticks for the following thirteen days. In March of 1886, eight-year-old Robin Weaver went missing and search parties went out looking for him. He returned, but one search party was found at Coffin Rock tied together by their arms and legs cut to pieces. Then in 1941, seven children went missing. Rustin Parr was the hermit of the town living in the woods, and confessed to killing these children in a ritualistic manner for an old ghost witch. All these events led to the investigation by the three film students Heather, Josh, and Michael. Paranormal events surrounded the footage they shot. One of the crew members then goes missing, and they find the old house believed to be Elly Kedward’s. They are in the basement screaming, and then the camera is dropped and the film ends. What happens to the students is based on what you infer. There has also been a sequel titled Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows. However, this film revolves around a different group of people.
