The Beaumont Hotel is located in Beaumont, Kansas and was originally established in 1879 as a stagecoach station. In 1885, Beaumont itself was established as a railroad town.

The Summit Hotel was the original name of this hotel back then and it was known as the highest point on the Frisco Line from Ellsworth, Kansas to St. Louis. Some of the guests who stayed at the hotel included cattle barons from Oklahoma and Texas.

The hotels primary function was to be the acting headquarters for those who shipped or brought cattle in to fatten. As the cattle barons stayed inside the hotel, the cowboys would sleep outside.

According to legend, the top floor of this hotel is haunted by the spirit of an old cowboy who was murdered there. The origins of this story are not known, but one could only guess what could have happened to this cowboy in the Old West!
