A rumor began spreading around 1986 or 1987 that Corona, an imported Mexican beer, was being contaminated with urine by the brewery workers. Gary Alan Fine points out that the two major themes of this rumor is the fear of contamination and of competition. Some United States workers fear competition from south of the border. Although this rumor has seemed to of faded, some beer drinkers still can’t seem to get the story of out their heads and the beer into their drinking habits.
