Here is a localized legend that started in the summer of 1987. It has spread through North Carolina and Virginia. It is said in this story that a baby had been fed some milk and sleeping by the side of the field while its mother was picking some strawberries. A snake had crept up to the child and strangled the baby. This legend circulated to the United States from Europe.
