Rutherglen Mansion Bed and Breakfast
Rutherglen Mansion Bed and Breakfast is located on Mount Solo in Longview, Washington. It was built for the vice-president of Long-Bell Lumber, John D. Tennant and his family. They moved into the house in 1927, and the family sold the house after John’s death in 1949. It then served as a nursing home for the next 18 years, until the property was again sold. It then became a girl’s home and then a meeting spot for a church. Finally in 1994, the house became the site of the current bed and breakfast. Stories of the paranormal events in the house have been passed down for years, including cold spots, sounds, and sightings. It is believed to be haunted by the ghost of an old lady named Alice, who most often is seen staring out the window. Also, there are rumors that a bride and groom who were married there, haunt the place as well.

You forgot about the running foot steps and laughing little girl that happen in the Chapel at 2 am when the place is quiet. I used to work here and I have seen Alice more than once.
I had several opportunities to dine there (the food was excellent by the way). Several staff members told me stories of lights going off and on and the candles blowing out in the dining area. My daughter and I had an opportunity to go to the ballroom on the 3rd floor. I have to say, that room gave me the chills and all I wanted to do was leave. If ever a place were haunted, Rutherglen would be. I also got a shot of the old servant’s quarter (separate house) and got a pic that I still can’t explain. There is a man in the window, but you can see through him. Very weird place.
