The RMS Queen Mary was an ocean liner that sailed the North Atlantic Ocean for over thirty years (1936-1967). She ran through World War II, later being released from her troop transport duties. The Queen Mary stopped running in 1967. It is now a museum and restaurant in Long Beach, California and is widely considered as one of the most haunted places in the world.
There are many ghosts who have reportedly been sighted on the ship. In 1966, a seventeen year old was crushed by a water-weight door in the engine room during a fire drill. His ghost is rumored to be roaming that area. Most visitors who have reported the haunting claimed to have heard banging on the pipes around the very same door.
The pool area of the ship is also a “hot spot” for paranormal activity. One of the most-known ghosts in this area is the spirit of a young girl who had allegedly broken her neck in an accident at the pool. Many people visiting the area say that they have heard the girl asking for her mother or her doll. The most interesting spot of paranormal activity on this ship would have to be the hallway of the pool’s changing rooms. In this hallway, furniture supposedly has been said to move, pained-voices have been heard, and the feeling of being touched by unknown-hands of spirits.
The RMS Queen Mary is open to be toured for a small fee. There are even ghost tours that occur especially during Halloween. The link to the ship’s website is placed below for further reading.
