Religion: Extremism, Corruption, & Commercialization

Before I even introduce my thoughts on this matter, I would like to announce to all of you that I am not against any religion and I will not list any specific religion to avoid offending anyone. This is just what I have been noticing lately.

Is religion the world’s largest commercial empire? One that will never have to file for bankruptcy? Some believe so. You turn on the news and you hear about some religious leaders stealing from their own Church, breaking their vows, and even sexually-harassing innocent children. Is this the religion that God wanted it to be? I recently saw a commercial for a relatively-new religion on TV. Commercials are expensive, how could they possibly afford to accomplish that? Having a commercial on TV pretty much states that you are a corporation instead of a religion. Why should one practice their faith if they are being charged for every little thing they do?

I also personally believe that some religions are too extreme. We are all here for a purpose, to have a faithful life, to have experiences we will learn from. Some religions require hours of practice every day. Is there a point to all of this? What experiences will we learn from doing repetitive activities each day? Once again, I’m not pointing the finger at anyone or any specific religion.

So, I have labeled you some cons of religion. You may ask, what should we do, if we see our religion corrupt? First of all, pray. The fact of the matter is that God loves you for who you are, and as long as you live a faithful life, one with a mission to build good things instead of causing destruction, would he have any reason not to let you into his kingdom? We hear these rules that are being set by religions every day, you must do this and that if you want to please God. The fact of the matter is, ladies and gentlemen, you know what God wants, and you don’t need anyone to tell you what you have to do.

Follow your heart, do good, and forbid all evil. What more could God ask for?
