The Plains Hotel opened in 1911 in the city of Cheyenne, Wyoming. The five-story hotel was revolutionary at the time of its conception, containing three elevators, over 100 guest rooms, and lavishly decorated furnishings that were not common at most hotels during that time period.

Great memories held by many proceeded in this beautiful and grand establishment. However, not everyone can always have a picture-perfect vacation or trip here.

There is one couple that remains to be well-versed within the history of the Plains Hotel. Rosie was the name of a woman who had just been married and was staying at the Plains Hotel during her honeymoon. One night, her husband went downstairs to the bar for a drink and as time passed, Rosie noticed he had not come back.

She went down to the bar to find her new husband speaking with a prostitute. She watched in the corner as they spoke and started to walk up the 4th floor together. Rosie followed silently, and upon reaching the floor she shot both of them with her husband’s gun. Terrified and miserable, Rosie then proceeded to her room and shot herself. Since this tragic event, the three spirits have been known to haunt the hotel.

Laughter is often heard from the room that was once occupied by Rosie and her husband. When staff go inside to investigate, no one is ever there. Rosie’s spirit can be spotted on the 2nd floor walking through the hall in a long blue gown.

The groom can be spotted all over the hotel, dressed in early 1900s attire. He is most often seen on the 4th floor and the basement simply walking around, looking very restless. The prostitute is usually spotted on the 2nd floor of the hotel, wearing a short red dress. There was one incident when the spirit of this woman was believed to have pushed down the mannequin of a bride put up by hotel staff for decoration.

Staying at the Plains Hotel is an eventful place to visit to say the least. Just think, you may run into the on-going saga of these three restless spirits on that fateful night.
