The Philadelphia Experiment was an alleged naval experiment at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. On October 28, 1943, the United States destroyer escort USS Eldridge allegedly appeared invisible to a group of observers for a brief period. This project is also known as Project Rainbow. Although it is widely regarded as a hoax and contradicts the well-established facts about the ship and the United States Navy denies the existence of such a project, many believe that this event actually took place.

Others claim that the ship was taken from Boston to New York harbor in 22 minutes. It is said, but not proven, that the ship had been dismantled and the crew was placed in an insane asylum to maintain the secrecy of the project. There are several different versions of the experiment which has been circulating throughout the years. The experiment was allegedly lead by Dr. Franklin Reno as a military application of a Unified Field Theory. Like I have said before, it is claimed that some of the crew vanished mysteriously after the incident while others became seriously ill and diagnosed with schizophrenia.
