Out of the Depths of Hell

During the later stages of World War II, Hitler began to get desperate in his attempts to keep his ideology of victory. He turned to deadly force with experimental warfare which had never been seen in the history of the world. This is where the fictional world of the comic book series Hellboy took history into its own hands.
Although the comic book story is mostly fictional, it has some historical basis to back it up. On a remote island near Scotland, Hitler had had a few of his Nazi engineers conduct experiments which could turn the war in their favor. Such experiments included time travel, light speed, nuclear weapons, and supersonic aircraft.
One of the Nazi scientists had created a portal to another dimension. It was widely-believed that this portal could be used as a gateway to hell. Demons would be unleashed to fight with the Germans. During this experiment, something came through. in the fictional world, Hellboy was the creature. But as for history it is still not known what was unleashed.
