Michael de Nostredame or most commonly known as Nostradamus was a Frenchman who lived from 1503 to 1566. He is one of the best known prophets in human history for the four-line verses called quatrains that he wrote. These quatrains have predicted catastrophic events. The first event that made him famous while alive was a 1555 publication that said:
“The young lion will overcome the older one, On the field of combat in a single battle;
He will pierce his eyes through a golden cage, Two wounds made one, then he dies a cruel death.”
Four years later in 1559, King Henry II was killed during a jousting tournament. His shield was the emblem of a lion and it took him four painful days to die from the wounds. More recently, many believe he predicted the rise of Adolf Hitler and Nazi’s with another one of his quatrains. He wrote:
” Liberty shall not be recovered, a black, fierce, villainous, evil man shall occupy it, when the ties of his alliance are wrought. Venice shall be vexed by Hister.”
” Beasts wild with hunger will cross the rivers, the greater part of the battle field will be against Hister. He will drag the leader in a cage of iron, when the child of Germany observes no law.”
This shows how Nostradamus could have predicted the Nazi regime, and people who believe in it think Hister is supposed to be Hitler. The most recent controversy over Nostradamus came immediately after the 9/11 attacks. People think that he might have predicted it with one of his quatrains saying:
“In the City of God there will be a great thunder, Two brothers torn apart by Chaos, while the fortress endures, the great leader will succumb”, The third big war will begin when the big city is burning”
This quatrain would make sense for the 9/11 terrorist attacks, but no one will ever know for sure. Most people are skeptics about the ability of Nostradamus’ predictions, but maybe there are too many incidents to be just a coincidence. Ultimately, there will always be skeptics for anything related to this topic so read these quatrains, think about the words, and be your own judge in deciding whether these prophecies are merely coincidences.
