New Amsterdam Theatre
The New Amsterdam is located in Manhattan on West 42nd Street. It has been home to many beloved Broadway plays. However, this magnificent home of acting and theatre has a darker side to it. Many claim to have seen the ghost of a woman named Olive Thomas.
Olive Thomas was a chorus girl who killed herself by overdosing on her husband’s syphilis medication. It is said she overdosed because her husband was cheating on her with another woman. Her ghost has been spotted on stage during some performances and in one of the dressing rooms. She wears a green dress and holds a blue glass which is said to contain the pills she overdosed on. Usually, she appears after audiences have left, though she has appeared when some her fellow actresses are in the theater.
