One of the oldest and best known food-contamination rumors is “The Mouse in the Coke”. This is an account of someone finding a dead mouse in the can or bottle of a soft drink. The usual culprit of these rumors is the Coca-Cola Company. Seven lawsuits in the 1930s proves that these incidents have happened or that it was faked. The legends are dramatized of the general notion that it is possible for small rodents to get into a container through the bottling process and escape all quality control.

I bought a glass bottled Dr. Pepper in a convenience store in 1970 and it had a cigarette wrapper inside the bottle. I never opened it. Instead, the Dr. Pepper distributing company was but a few miles from me so I called them up and told them. They said they would be right out to pick it up and trade me for a couple of cases of DP. So things do get in the bottles and cans. Clowns probably.

That’s scary. It’s a good thing that you realized it. Two cases? Nowadays, if you have a problem, your lucky to get a 50 cent off coupon lol

I bought a box of those Nabisco assortment cookies that have those little cupcake holders inside that hold various cookies. One of the cupcake papers was completely empty. I just called Nabisco and told them. Obviously it’s happened before. They asked for my address. I lived in Buena Park, CA at the time and they’re next door in Cerritos, CA. I came home from work one day with a box at my door full of Nabisco items. About 30+ items in the box.

I never complain unless it’s legit and I never complain to the retailer. They could care less. I always go to the mfg, or their distributor. Whoever is closes.

Coupons are usually what they do these days but I think they’re fair since they always give you coupons with a greater value than your loss.

The retailers give out the cheesy coupons when you complain though.

What costs 5 bucks in the store probably only cost them 50 cents to make.
