Meriadoc “Merry” Brandybuck

Meriadoc “Merry” Brandybuck is one of the members of the fellowships in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. He is a young Hobbit from the Shire. He is considered by many of his fellow companions to be one of the most intelligent of hobbits as opposed to the characters comical portrayal in Peter Jackson’s film adaptation of the book. Merry was friends with Frodo Baggins fro man early age. When Frodo chose to leave the shire and take the one ring with him, Merry and a few fellow Hobbits chose to go along with Frodo. Merry followed his friends through many perils until he became an esquire of Rohan under King Theoden.
The character was portrayed by actor Dominic Monaghan in the 2001-2003 film adaptations.
