Despite the lack of eyewitnesses of this incident and the impossibility of this to occur due to the modern design of airplanes, this urban legend still lives on. It describes how through a series of misunderstandings and mishaps, both the pilot and copilot leave the cockpit unattended. Due to turbulence or some force, the cockpit door is locked shut. Neither pilot has the cockpit key so they are forced to break down the door with a fire ax with the frightened passengers watching. This legend is often attributed to an early commercial flight or a foreign airline.
