Leroy G. “Grodo” Cooper was one of the original Mercury 7 astronauts. Since his death in 2004, his name has gained more fame than he had when he was alive. He was one of the first men to orbit the earth. He worked as a Test Pilot at Edwards Air Force Base and was known by his peers to be one of the best “hot-dog” pilots. Yet, Cooper’s career was marked by paranormal activities.

While he was stationed at an Air Force base in West Germany during the early 1950s, Cooper’s plane was chased by a UFO. Ground personnel could not identify where the aircraft had come from and the story went no further. Again in 1957, Cooper was stationed as a Test Pilot at Edwards Air Force Base in California. A few of his fellow workers told him they had observed a UFO land only a few yards away from the. Cooper was shown pictures and film of the event. He chose to give it to his military superiors and the event was never spoken of again.
