Lear House

Lear House is located in Pensacola, Florida, and now stands at 214 East Zaragoza Street. The ownership of this land has historically has gone through the hands of many people. Construction on the house began in 1887 by Kate and John Lear, then it was sold in 1897 to Benito Rocheblave and his wife Katherine Elizabeth. The Rocheblave family stayed at the house until the year 1912. There were other owners and families that lived in the house, but the name is only referred to as the Lear-Rocheblave House. The house stands with a two-story frame that contains ornamented porches.
While Lear House was going under renovations, a painter witnessed the apparition of a woman dressed in Victorian style clothing in a bedroom on the 2nd floor. The other workers went into the room to check for this woman when the other painter told them about it. When they got there, they found no one, but there was a strong scent of perfume in the room which was strange. Students from the University of West Florida once were performing an archaeological dig and kept their tools in Lear House, as well as artifacts that included coffins with skeletons inside. One day after all of the bones had been arranged in a particular order, the students found the bones to be all messed up and moved around without the door being unlocked. The female apparition of Lear House is unknown to this day, but it is probably a former owner.
