Lamothe Guest House
A woman by the name of Josie Arlington purchased and built homes along Esplanade Avenue in New Orleans, Louisiana. She did this in order to gain social acceptance into the higher social circles of New Orleans at the time. The Lamothe House was built in the 1830s and is located on Esplanade Avenue, right across the street from Vieux Carre. The outside of the house gives off the illusion that it is not that big, but once inside, there is a myriad of hallways that total an amount of 6,000 square feet indoors. The townhouse is currently serving the role as a bed and breakfast.
In the foyer, where visitors are welcome into the home, there is a ghost of an old black man. People have reported seeing this apparition get up from his chair and walk to the door as if he is getting up to see who is at the door. When he comes up to the door, he disappears. Psychic investigators believe that this man’s name is Jeffrey, but workers at the bed and breakfast deny that a ghost exists there.
