Ivy House Inn Bed and Breakfast

December 23rd, 2008

The Ivy House Inn Bed and Breakfast is located in Casper, Wyoming and is currently owned by Tom Johnson. Soon after he and wife began renovations, paranormal activity began to occur. Strange odors were present, including that of burning rubber, Mentholatum, talcum powder, and dead fish.

Objects began to disappear, doors opened and closed, footsteps were heard, and electrical plugs were pulled out of their sockets. Photos taken by the Johnsons reveal ectoplasm, orbs, faces, and sometimes full apparitions.

The Johnsons are true believers that one of the ghosts that haunts the inn is that of Mrs. White. Mrs. White was the former owner of the house and had a reputation of being noisy and always was checking up on the tenants to make sure they were taking care of their rooms. This would explain some of the noise heard, especially the knocking on the door of the Blue Rose Room. The ghost of an old lady has been seen throughout the inn by several people including not just family members but friends and guests as well.

One guest reported seeing a short old lady with red hair looking at her while she was in the bathroom. Another guest actually watched an old lady simply walk down the hallway. Some explanations for spirits in the inn include the fact that between 1902 and 1940, there were 26 different owners of the inn. The other reason may be that the town of Casper is located on several trails. These trails are: The Mormon Trail, California Trail, Oregon Trail, and Pony Express. Maybe some of the spirits in the inn once traveled these trails and stopped to rest in Casper.
