In Wyoming, one of the most terrifying supervolcanoes lies under Yellowstone national park. Thousands of people visit this site every year to watch as bursts of air blast feet high from cracks in the ground. It is a great site, but this park has a dark side to it. Scientists have speculated that the last time this supervolcano erupted was thousands of years ago and is lost overdue. If this volcano were to erupt today, the consequences would be deadly. Now many many believe that if it does happen, it will not take place in their lifetime. Well that may be so, but look at some of the evidence. Scientists have noticed abnormal activity underneath the rock that may indicate a possible eruption. Also, the volcano is overdue for another eruption.

Think of a volcano as pressure just building up constantly over thousands of years. Eventually that pressure has to be released. And when it does, boy will we be in for a surprise! It is speculated that when Yellowstone erupts, most of the United States will be covered in darkness from ash that will block out the sun. This will cause the death of plant-life and could put humanity in serious danger. Some have even speculated that this may be the event predicted by the Ancient Mayans that will take place in 2012. It is very possible that this volcano could be the death of our society. So keep watch and pray we don’t live to see the eruption.
