Hurricanes, also known as tropical cyclones, are storm systems that are characterized by a low-pressured center and a number of thunderstorms. Although the exact process for which hurricanes are formed is still unknown, there are many factors which can contribute to the development of a hurricane. High humidity, rapid cooling with height, low amounts of wind shear and certain locations are all needed to form a hurricane.
