Hotel Meade

December 23rd, 2008

Hotel Meade is located in Dillon, Montana. This is also apart of what once was the Gold Rush town of Bannack, but today it is merely a ghost town. Back when this town was thriving, many people were killed due to lack of law enforcement, illness, and harsh climate. The town has many ghosts in different places, one of which is in the Hotel Meade. This hotel was in operation until the 1940s. On a summer morning in 1915, Dorothy Dunn, Fern Dunn, and Cousin Ruth Wornick were bathing in an abandoned dredge pond.

As they were bathing, they fell off the ledge into a deep part of water. A man jumped in after the young girls and brought all three of them back out to land. However, it was too late for 16 year old Dorothy because she had already drowned by the time she was saved. Her ghost is believed to haunt the second floor of the hotel ever since that fateful day. This is believed to be because she spent many time there while her mother worked in the hotel. There have been many accounts of people seeing the ghost of a girl sitting at the top of the grand staircase. Kids visiting the hotel have told their parents they’ve been talking to a little girl when there is no one there.
