It’s been called the worst atrocity in the history of humanity. Over 6 million people of the Jewish faith were murdered. Along with Jews, there were Polish, gypsies, homosexuals, and mentally-handicapped people who were also victims of this slaughter.
The man with the plan was Adolf Hitler. He had a deep hatred for people of the Jewish faith. He felt they were the reason Germany was suffering. When he was elected chancellor of Germany, his idea was to create a pure Aryan race. Anyone who didn’t belong to this idea Hitler had was deported to camps for orderly disposal.
Slowly, this process grew larger and people from all over Germany were being sent to these concentration camps. When Germany declared war and conquered other countries, more Jews were sent to be slaughtered. By the end of the war, Hitler had almost completely destroyed the Jewish population of Western Europe.
