The Ghost Ship of the HMS de Braak
The HMS de Braak sunk on May 25th, 1778 in Delaware. The ship was on its way from Holland by the control of the British and contained millions of dollars on board from tons of gold and precious stones. The wreck has been located many times in the water, but no one has ever been able to bring it to surface since the last try in 1986. No one has ever found the alleged treasure as well.
The common reasons for the sinking was because of a bad storm or just wind rolling-it-over due to all the treasure on board. Some think that it was doomed from an Indian curse or falsely led by the so-called “Corpse Light.” Another famous wreck in the exact area was blamed on the Corpse Light as well as the ship called the Devonshireman. The captain thought he was heading for a lighthouse towards a storm and crashed into the rocks, killing nearly 200 people. It is still a mystery where the light came from. People say that if you go by the Delaware Bay on a moonlight night you will see and hear the old ship as it reached its final hour.
