With millions of albums sold world-wide, AC/DC has become one of the most successful bands since Led Zeppelin and The Beatles. After initial attempts in Australia to get their music noticed proved not as successful as they had hoped, the band created their first world release album entitled Highway To Hell.

The title song has become one of the most memorable rock and roll songs ever made. However, when the CD was first released, the idea of using hell in an upbeat tempo song was also unheard of. Many critics of the day considered these Australian boys to be “satan worshipers from down under.”

AC/DC, vehemently denied these claims, saying they were simple a rock band looking to have a good time. The use of hell in the song is not meant to inspire Satanic worship or practices. It simply is a metaphor for freedom or going against the norm. That’s what makes the song so good, because it has a rebellious nature that many people of the day did not truly understand.
