Harry’s Roadhouse is in Asbury Park, New Jersey along the famous Jersey shore. On November 15th, 1910 the mutilated body of Marie Smith was found. She was on her way back home from school but never made it. Frank Hediemann eventually confessed to the murders and he was convicted and sentenced to death by electrocution. However, there have been many discrepancies concerning the confession, which leads some to believe that an innocent man may have been put to death.

In 2003, the public relations and event coordinator of Harry’s Road House contacted the New Jersey Ghost Hunters Society about strange experiences by herself, other staff members, and visitors on the property. She reported closing the door to the basement one evening, and then the door swung back at her with its own power. One night, the manager saw a glowing figure move up the stairs from the basement and into the kitchen. The manager also had another experience, this time with two of his chefs. They were in the basement and saw a woman downstairs. They advised her that the restaurant was closed but as they walked closer, she evaporated.

A garbage collector also had an encounter with this lady ghost as well. The collector even said that the ghost called his name while making his pickup one morning. On numerous occasions, the sobbing of a young girl is heard from the woman’s restroom when no one is there. This could possibly be the ghost of Marie’s distraught mother still searching for her little girl. People believe that the public relations and event coordinator at Harry’s Road House picked up the ghosts emotions and thoughts somehow.
