Government UFOs

In the early 2000s, there was a lake in the northwestern region of the United States which was a source of intrigue for the government. In this undisclosed location, it was a widely known fact that this was an area that was frequently visited by UFOs. A secret unit sponsored by high ranking officials went on an expedition to this lake. What they found was extraordinary.
The group gathered around for a few hours hoping to see something in the sky. Not long after they arrived, a three-dimensional diamond shaped craft appeared over the trees. It hovered over the lake appearing. It appeared to the observers that the craft was sucking up water. After it was finished, the craft shot a bright beam of light which blasted the dirt and rocks near the men.
As the observers watched this, they were stunned. Some fled the area, including members of Special Forces units in the military. This event has never been disclosed to anyone outside of military intelligence. Why is it that the government feels they can just not release this information? I think we have a right to know as do millions of others across the globe.
