Good vs. Evil

This is a topic that has been going around lately, Good vs. Evil. We’ve heard about this our whole life, but do you believe evil truly exists? Many could tell you that it does exist based on experience, but have you personally ever experienced true-evil before? I have taken some Bible passages for you to look at:

The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks. (NIV, Luke 6:45)

This is a pretty straightforward passage that is basically those who are evil are truly evil and live solely on spreading evil acts around them and those who are truly good live their entire lives doing good for those around them.

Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting. (NAS, Romans 16:17-18)

This is a very powerful quote, which says that evil can be deceiving and to be cautious of any teachings that may go against your faith.

“Beware of false teachers who come disguised as harmless sheep, but are wolves and will tear you apart. You can detect them by the way they act, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit. You need never confuse grapevines with thorn bushes or figs with thistles. Different kinds of fruit trees can quickly be identified by examining their fruit. A variety that produces delicious fruit never produces an inedible kind. And a tree producing an inedible kind can’t produce what is good. So the trees having the inedible fruit are chopped down and thrown on the fire. Yes, the way to identify a tree or a person is by the kind of fruit produced. “Not all who sound religious are really godly people. They may refer to me as ‘Lord,’ but still won’t get to heaven. For the decisive question is whether they obey my Father in heaven. At the Judgment many will tell me, ‘Lord, Lord, we told others about you and used your name to cast out demons and to do many other great miracles.’ But I will reply, ‘You have never been mine. Go away, for your deeds are evil.’ (TLB, Matthew 7:15-23)

This is the most powerful quote out of them all. I personally believe that the first line is the most powerful. It pretty much states how evil tries to trick you into thinking it’s good, like a harmless sheep, but is actually a wolf that will tear you apart.

What are your thoughts on the battle between good and evil?

evil doesnt exist, it is only circumstance. the quotes say dont listen to anyone else but the church because they dont want people to convert to other religions. the last one also says throw the poison tree on the fire, meaning kill things the church says are evil so only the church and christians remain. obviously no one is only good or only evil, so the first quote is retarded.

I believe that the devil does not exist, and as Drew said before “obviously no one is only good or only evil”.
It seems that some religious people enjoy judging the others when their Master Jesus thought to not.

fairy tales. If you take the “scripture” seriously then you have to apply the same logic of the “fruit tree” to both sides. I know I’ve seen “evil deeds” come from many church organizations. That must mean all the “edible fruit” coming from the church is a lie in order to get me to let a church leader rape me. No other group is more like a wolf in sheep’s wool than organized religion. There is no “good” or “evil”, these are simply words some like to use to justify themselves.
