Gerber Settlement Hoax

January 3rd, 2009

In 1996, there was a baseless story circulating about how the Gerber’s baby food company lost a class-action lawsuit and was required to give every American child under the age of twelve a savings bond ($500-$1500). American parents were advised with bogus announcements to send their child’s name and a copy of their birth records or their Social Security card to a post-office box in Minneapolis.

The truth is the Gerber Products Company did not have a post-office box in that city and they debunked the story on their website calling it a rumor and misinformation.
