Frodo Baggins

Frodo Baggins is the hero of The Lord of the Rings. His story has appealed to readers and movie-goers worldwide. He is a prime example to people that one person, no matter how small or insignificant, can make a difference in the world. No matter what tragedy befalls Frodo, he is still able to continue on. Perhaps this is why so many people love this story. Every person can relate to these trials that Frodo goes through. Even many historical figures are similar to Frodo in that they have a tragic event happen early in their lives, yet they somehow find the strength to carry on.
Frodo loses his parents in a boating accident while he is young. His uncle Bilbo adopts Frodo and names him his heir. Frodo grows up hearing stories of far away lands and ancient peoples. This all culminates at Bilbo’s 111th birthday when Bilbo leaves the shire and passes the ring to Frodo. Gandalf tells Frodo that this ring is the evil ring forged many years ago by the Dark Lord Sauron. Frodo sets out on a quest with his friend Sam Gamgee to destroy the ring is the dark land of Mordor. After many battles and terrible tragedies, Frodo manages to make it to Mordor and destroys the ring. Frodo was played by Elijah Wood in Peter Jackson’s film trilogy.
