Fangorn Forest is one of the most ancient forests in Middle-Earth, the land in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. It is the home of the tree shepards, also called “Ents.” During the events of The Two Towers, the second part of the trilogy, the fellowship of the ring are divided and two of the members wind up in the dark and sinister forest. It had been many years since the trees had come alive. One of the Ents was called Treebeard awakes and takes the two young Hobbits under his guidance. Treebeard tells them that the wizard Saruman has destroyed many trees of the forest in order to create metal and wage war on the nation of Rohan.
Treebeard summons every tree to awake and destroy Isengard. The forest comes to life and moves to Isengard, Sarumans dominion, and destroys the fortress and returns it to a peaceful place that it used to be. Gandalf the wizard also made his return in the forest. In the 2001-2003 The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Weta Digital provided the visual effects to make the trees come alive. The role of Treebeard was voiced by John Rhys-Davies.
