Fairacres/Burnaby Art Gallery

January 16th, 2009

Fairacres is located on Deer Lake in Burnaby, British Columbia. This site is believed to be haunted by the original owner of the house, Mrs. Grace Ceperley. As you stand there, you can feel the presence of someone watching over all visitors. There were no accounts of hauntings at this house before the city bought the property, and then consequently turned it into an art gallery. Several families have lived at the mansion over the years, including a Catholic group of missionary monks, and a religious cult who called themselves, “Temple of the More Abundant Life”.

People have reported seeing a woman in pale blue walking through the hall. Some people have reported even hearing monastic chants, and then seeing a bright white flash. The apparition of a young girl at the top of the inner stairwell was seen by caterers one day. The Vancouver Paranormal team also experienced something paranormal in that stairwell, seeing an unexplained, crackling blue flash. Coat hangers have been flung onto the floor when left alone for a short period of time, loud crashes can be heard when nothing falls, and at times doors have been known to lock on their own. It seems as though Mrs. Ceperley is just playing some harmless pranks on the new visitors in her beloved home.
