Effects of the July 20 Plot
Many people have felt that if the July 20 plot had been successful and Hitler killed, the war would have ended much sooner. Historians believe the mastermind behind the plot, Claus Von Stauffenberg would have made peace with the allies and World War Two would have ended by 1944. However, what if his plans were not as peaceful as we thought?
There is a slight possibility that Stauffenberg would have taken power and become too ambitious. It was known he had a deep love for Germany and believed it should be turned back to its greatness. I believe if he had been successful, he would have set up his own regime dedicated to making sure no treason against Germany would ever occur. In this respect, he would have been just as bad a dictator as Hitler was.
