Dorr E. Felt Mansion
Dorr E. Felt Mansion is located in Saugatuck, Michigan. The mansion was built in 1928 by inventor and millionaire Dorr E. Felt. He built the mansion for his wife as a summer home, and called it Agnes’s house in honor of her. However, she died only three weeks after living there in her bedroom. Felt would re-marry, but his new wife rarely wanted to spend time there. In 1930, Felt died himself, and when this happened the mansion was handed over to his daughters. In 1948, the family sold it to St. Augustine Seminary.
The Seminary built several more buildings on the property, but due to declining enrollment they were forced to sell everything to the state of Michigan. The main building was turned into the Dunes Correctional Medium Security Prison. The mansion was used for offices and the state police post. In the 1980s the prison was shut down and bought by Laketown Township. Ghostly activity has been reported on the site, including apparitions in the library, ballroom, and the room where Agnes died.
Agnes’s bedroom has the most paranormal activity out of the whole site. Strange mists appear out of no where, radical temperature fluctuations occur, lights turn on and off, and windows have been known to open on their own accord. There is even a vide showing the french doors in the room opening on their own, as if Agnes was pushing them open herself. The hearing of footsteps and sights of apparitions is also not uncommon for people to seeĀ and hear in this particular area.
