Doctor Jack

Doctor Jack was a Voodoo witch doctor during the same time as Doctor John in New Orleans, and he is the only Voodoo on record to have scared himself to death. Doctor Jack was a magician who was noted for his love charms. He offered through sale beef hearts that were perfumed and decorated with toads’ feet. He also made spider claws and satin ribbons into valentines, and this was used most often to gain the affection of another. Doctor Jack always slept with one of these creations hanging over the bed every night. One night, it fell on his face and he woke up in shock. The shock was so severe that he lost his senses and died three days later.
