This film has been called one of the best horror-thrillers in film history. The classic 1979 film captivated audiences with its original story and frightening moment. Yet, in 2004 the story was re-imagined by director Zack Snyder. The basic premise is that of an unknown infection that has taken over the world and infected humans making them become cannibalistic zombies. A few lucky survivors of this terrible plague manage to take refuge in a large shopping mall. It is here that they will try to outlast the virus or make their last stand.

Yet, things aren’t so easy. Being cooped up in a mall takes its toll on the people. They manage to make contact with a fellow survivor on the roof of a nearby building. Their plan is to two vans and make them death machines, equipped with guns, barbed wire, and gasoline tanks. Things had not gone as they planned and some of the survivors are killed or bitten by the zombies. The rest of them manage to escape to a boat yard and sail into the sunset to islands off the coast, hoping to find more survivors and stay safe.

The film was a success at the box-office and turned Zack Snyder into a mainstream director. The film has developed a cult following from fans of horror and of the original film. This film seemed more like a science fiction film rather than your typical horror movie. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a good scare and plenty of bloody action.
